I designed this for a school history project. It is not based on one specific ancient scarab amulet but a combination of features I saw in many. The indents on the base are there because in Ancient Egyptian jewelry and amulets there are often mosaic looking parts, you can paint the indents with colors that they might have used like turquoise and bright blue. I personally painted the scarab blue, similar to the lapis lazuli scarab found with King Tut, and the base part mainly gold.
