- I had enough of build surfaces that needs to be changed every now and then, but is stuck so incredibly hard to the bed that a jack hammer is needed to remove it. And what's up with that glue they use on it? takes waaaay to long to scrub off. NO! no more hazzle! I needed something that's easy to remove and clean. I've seen magnets embedded in print surfaces before, but even that needs to me stuck to the bed with adhesive anyways. Got me thinking that magnets were the way to go, but in a different way. Yes, the magnets on the carbon fiber does protrude up 3mm. But think about it, have you ever printed something in the corners of your bed? - The four 3D printed parts for each corner serves the purpose of retaining the carbon plate together with the magnets to hold the plate steady when the bed is moving back and fourth rapidly. And at he same time i designed some better bed adjustment screws. - The carbon fiber print surface is only 0.4mm thick. And the surface is very smooth so you will need to use a glue stick for adhesion. And when it's time to free the print, just remove the carbon plate and flex the it slightly to pop off the print. Easy to clean too, just put it in the sink and run the hot water to wash off the glue stick residue. - The cheap china M3 nuts and bolts that came with the printer are not magnetic so you will source some yourself. And i suggest drilling out all holes on the 3D printed parts with a 3.2mm drill to allow the M3 bolts to spin freely. - See it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_863wxqzSGM - Carbon Fiber Plate 420x250x0.4mm https://bit.ly/2md1QyV Tape to the bed (while it is off the printer) on two edges and cut the carbon plate to size with box cutter. Get a precise finish with sanding. Repeat on other two edges and corners. - Neodymium Magnets 8mm x 3mm https://goo.gl/nLhb7N With everything assembled and fitting nicely, use super glue to attach the magnets to each corner of the carbon surface. - Optional DIY heat insulation under the bed: Foam insulation tape underneath Aluminum Foil Tape https://goo.gl/X9naou
