Clamps are installed at the base to hold studs firmly in place. This keeps the front section grounded while preventing studs from slipping out of the center slots during use. When assembling the device, turn the studs so the front edge rests on your work surface. Then, secure the clamping nuts starting with the rear and working your way forward before evenly distributing them around the clamp.
