Allows the mounting of the fan via the bearing housing with bolts you should already have spare from your build (slightly longer). Means you can tighten stepper motor tight without the heat-sink. Allows you to see the throat of the extruder to allow easier changing of filament. Also easier to remove fan to access extruder. Should not interfere with printer movement and should auto-home as normal with plenty of clearance.
