Anet A8 Extended duct with LED strip bracket
thingiverse
I purchased a two-pack of LED strips on Ebay for $15, opting to illuminate my printer with some flair. Initially, I found that installing the lights on top of the frame didn't quite achieve the desired effect, as it failed to adequately light up the entire print area. However, placing them near the print bed resulted in a far more appealing setup. Deciding to modify the duct I was using (an extended version designed for sensor purposes), I added a flat base that would allow the LED strip tape to securely adhere. This modification required cutting three sections and soldering wires to create a U-shape configuration. Any 12v LED strip light can be utilized; simply cut three sections and connect them with wires to form a U shape. To achieve this, I acquired a 5M RGB 5050 Non Waterproof LED Strip light, 12V Power source available on Ebay at http://r.ebay.com/E5N4cT. Update - April 16th, 2017 Upon further examination, I discovered that the adhesive backing of the strip was not strong enough to withstand multiple prints and would eventually fall off. To resolve this issue, I recommend using super glue for a more secure attachment. Additionally, I noticed that the corners of the duct began to warp upwards over time, giving it a unique "bowl effect." While this aesthetic development may be pleasing to some, it's worth noting as a potential drawback. Print Settings Printer: Anet A8 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 20%
