This guide provides a solid ring, yet the filament can be easily removed if needed. I didn't like how almost every other guide has a gap for the filament to find its way back out of, or worse, get jammed in and mess up a print -- nor was I content with a strip of blue painter's tape as a solution. Also, there might be times I want to remove the filament from the guide, but not from the extruder, and this makes it super easy. UPDATE: 3-1-17 I modified the Base piece by filleting the front left edge of the bottom section. While I hadn't experienced any problems, I thought it would decrease the possibility of filament getting snagged. The mod is evident on the 3D model, but the photos are of the previous iteration. Print Settings Printer: Anet A8 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .2 Infill: 50% Notes: I used supports for the base Post-Printing Assembly The mating areas on the guide's bottom piece and the base will need to be cleaned up a little before gluing. I made the tolerances tight, planning to have to remove a little material to ensure a tight fit. I used dollar store superglue (cyanoacrylate). Installation The Base piece can be installed from the front left side of the LCD screen, and slides to the right. I made tolerances very tight, so sanding the channels in the base may be necessary to slide it over the acrylic. I planned to do that anyway to get an appropriately tight fit until I get more in tune with my printer and can confidently design in fit tolerances. Better to have some extra than not enough.
