Anet A8 - LCD Enclosure

Anet A8 - LCD Enclosure

thingiverse

This is an enclosure for the stock Anet A8 LCD screen. Which allows mounting the LCD off of the frame and mount it to the outside of an enclosure box or just about anywhere else you would prefer. The enclosure will have 2 options for now for the side parts, one plain base for the enclosure to just rest on a surface and the other with M3 mounting holes to secure down to a surface. Additionally you can fix this LCD enclosure to the stock anet spool holder. Just print the appropriate parts. Also check out my [anet stock spool holder bowden coupler](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2881723) Depending on the distance you plan to use the LCD from the main board I recommend getting a longer ribbon cable, the Anet LCD uses a 10 pin ribbon cable which can easily be found at places like AliExpress, or Amazon. https://www.amazon.ca/Uxcell-Connector-Ribbon-Cable-Female/dp/B01IS1N5KY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1525270505&sr=8-3&keywords=10+pin+ribbon+cable I spent a lot of time designing and testing this enclosure. If you make it please post a make I would love to see how people use this enclosure. I would recommend filling in the hole left by the lcd with something like this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2169055 but this is purely cosmetic and up to you. To Do: 1. include an assembly guide - Done 2. Once the Anet LCD Fits and works, Work on a variant for the RepRap LCD2004 display and other commonly used LCD displays. 3. Investigate ways to minimize filament usage while maintaining as much strength as possible. Update 1, 5/2/2018: LCD fit surprisingly well into the front mount for the first printed version. Sides fit very nicely to the front face, the slots for M3 nuts are a little tights but this is perfect as it prevents the nuts from falling out as you try to insert the M3 screws. I used Socket head M3 screws 8mm long. To be included in the up coming assembly instructions. Update 2, 5/3/2018: Added a part to allow the stock spool holder to be attached to the LCD enclosure on the back. No longer a work in progress! Everything works and fits together smoothly! I noticed that the stock mounting screws for the LCD were too long for the top two screws so I updated the rear panel to V2 to accommodate this change
