Animatronic Eye

Animatronic Eye

thingiverse

A 3D printed animatronic eye controlled by Arduino. Eyeball can move from left to right (not up and down). Eyelid can open and close. It's a variant on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:319978 I however redesigned the mechanism completely in order to have a more flat construction. Also I eliminated the need for levers. There is no mechanism/lever needed because the moving eyelid an eyeball are directly mounted to the servo's. Eyeball and eyelids are primed, then sprayed with filler and sanded. After 2 coats of filler and sanding it will be perfectly smooth. Ready for paint with brush or better with an airbrush or rattle can. A servo horn was cut and glued into the axles. Both axles were attached to the (Tower Pro SG90) servos with a screw normally used to mount the servos. These screws are a little longer and better suited for this application. If you're going to make this thing, be prepared to have lots of sanding and fiddling to get everything fitted. There is some Arduino code too. This code is however not for the eye only. In the end the eye was uese in a 'secret box' which only can be opened with a nfc card. If you knock on the box, a sensor is triggered and the eye opens up and starts to look around. So this code is just for reference. Do not ask me to change it. Just learn arduino yourself. https://youtu.be/KJej4KMdsuY
