------------------------------------------------------------ Anno 1800 Remixed, Refined and Perfected? ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------- Summary ------------- ------------- I took some of the existing Thingiverse Anno 1800 insert designs and refined them so that; a) The card trays can fit premium card sleeves (I used Paladin brand sleeves, 90 Microns thick) b) Adjust other components so that the box could be stored vertically and jostled while everything stays in place. ALL components needed for this insert are included with the downloadable files --------------------------------------------- What to Print ? --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- Here are the names and descriptions for each of the downloadable files. All of the file will print on a smaller printer like an Ender 3 EXCEPT the Cubes Tray. I have created a solution for that problem – see below Anno-Chipbox_x2.stl - These are the boxes that hold the gold tokens, trade tokens and expedition tokens. - Print two of these. Anno-Grid_1.stl - This is the left most grid 4 x 4 overlay that fits on the central game board. - It is used to organize and hold the construction tiles. Anno-Grid_2.stl - This is the file for the middle 4 x 4 grid overlay that fits on the central game board. - It is used to organize and hold the construction tiles. Anno-Grid3Rmx.stl - This is the file for the right most 3 x 4 grid overlay that fits on the central game board. - It is used to organize and hold the construction tiles. Anno1stPlyr+7Pts.stl - This tray holds the Starting Player token and the end of game 7 point Fireworks Token. Anno-NewWorldIslands.stl - This tray holds all of the New World island tiles. Anno-OldWorldIslands.stl - This tray holds all of the Old Work island tiles. Anno-ArtEngInvCrds.stl - This tray holds all of the sleeved Artisans/Engineers/Investors cards. Anno-NuWrldCrds - This tray holds all of the sleeved New World cards. Anno-FrmrWrkrCrds.stl - This tray holds all of the Farmers/Workers cards. AnnoExpMisnTray.stl - This tray holds both the Expedition Cards and the Objective/Mission cards. AnnoCubeTrayx2 - This tray holds all five of the population cubes. - You need to print 2 of these - I would suggest printing the Cube Trays on a higher resolution like ‘Dynamic Quality’ (if you are using Cura to slice). This makes it easier to slide your cubes up the sloped gradient. --------------------------------------------- Files for Small Print Surfaces --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- I created a version of the cube trays that splits the full tray into two smaller parts. AnnoCubes2Sml.stl - This file is for a Population cube tray with two compartments meant to hold the 20 Worker cubes (Blue) and 12 or 13 Farmer cubes (Green) - You will need to print two of this file AnnoCubes3Sml.stl - This file is for a Population cube tray with three compartments meant to hold the 12-13 Red Artisans Cubes, 10 Purple Engineer cubes (Blue) and 7-8 Turquoise Investors cubes (Green) - You will need to print two of this file --------------------------------------------- Why this Remix? --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- The main reason I made changes to the version that ‘Naitikal’ created was that his version didn't fit the Paladin brand card sleeves that I use. I could sort of get them to fit but felt it was an unnecessarily tight fit that would end up damaging the sleeves after a while. There was plenty of room to make the sleeve slots bigger with the New World Cards, Farmer/Worker cards (Green/Blue Cube Cards) and the Artisans/Engineers/Investors cards (Red/Purple/Turquoise) Cards. I made the aforementioned 3 card tray slots slightly bigger to accommodate Paladin sleeves. I also created more vertical space for each of these cards, by lowering the pedestal in each tray, as thicker cards (90 Micron +) spilled over the top of the tray. The same fit problem existed for card slots in the Objective and Expedition card tray but there was less room to play with as the edges of this tray butted right up against the Construction token grid overlay (Algathrac’s creation). That being said, I could see there was still a few mm's between this card tray and the the grid overlay trays and increased the width by a few millimeters. Everything fits great. --------------------------------------------- Other Changes and Refinements --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- 1) The population cube tray was split into two parts (four parts if you are printing the smaller print bed version), each being half the height of the original. It was fiddly and clumsy to get the population cubes out of the original tray design. In addition, by creating two separate Population trays, they can now be spread out on separate parts of the table for easier access, see included pictures for reference. I created slope from the base of the tray to the lip of the tray so the cubes slide out more easily than the original design. The slots for the Blue and Green cubes are slightly wider than the other slots. These wider slots will fit 7 cubes side by side. The other remaining slots will only fit 6 population cubes side by side. You will need to print 2 of these cube trays. 2) I redesigned the spacer that holds the Start player token and the Fireworks Token (7 Points). My design is meant to hold those tiles in place no matter how you orient the box. The old design was not ideal for holding the aforementioned tokens in place when storing vertically or when jostling the box. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Lineage Line, Source Material and Sweat Equity ----------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- This is a remix of a remix that Thingiverse user ‘Naitikal’ created, here is the link to his insert; https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4795372 Thingiverse user ‘Naitaka’ took an insert that Thingiverse user ‘Lepmah’ created so that it would fit sleeved cards. Here is a link to Lepmah's initial insert; https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4715764 Naitakal took the main game board grid overlay for Anno that Thingiverse user ‘Algathrac’ created. The Grid Overlay was a stand alone creation but Naitakal took that creation and integrated it into his insert design. Here is a link to Algathrac's Grid Overlay creation. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4640089 I remixed the 3 x 3 grid so that the tiles do not move around when transported. The remaining Grid Overlays that Algathrac created are included with the downloadable files in this post/creation. Thanks to Naitakal, Lepmah & Algathrac for doing all of the heavy lifting and thinking that went into the original designs. My OCD just couldn’t leave well enough alone…hope you like the changes and refinements I made.
