Another printable Spherebot / Eggbot, but NOW with fully INKSCAPE-Integration - EGGDUINO
thingiverse
To bring life to various 3D-printed Eggbot-like devices, I decided to create a new firmware that simulates the original Eggbot (EBB) serial protocol. Despite numerous printable options available, the software toolchain for these devices on Arduino platform is complex and user-unfriendly without the original EBB electronics. My firmware serves as a solution, marked as "Work in Progress" for potential tweaks. Hardware suggestions include builds from Thinkiverse, such as 'The Prototype,' Spherebot from Zaggo, and another printable version. I used Arduino Uno with Zaggo's version, moving the servo wire from pin D2 to D3. Ensure using PWM-pin for servo, and define your PIN config in my "Eggduino.ino" sketch. Disable auto-reset on the Arduino board. My Arduino firmware can be downloaded from GitHub. Install it with Arduino IDE, set up Inkscape for Eggbot with its extension, and apply a minor patch. To test your EggDuino's responsiveness, use any serial terminal like Putty, open the com-port at 9600 baud, send 'v' to trigger a response of the init string 'EBB ...'.
