Yet another Wanhao i3 / Monoprice Maker Select V2 fan replacement. On the Monoprice Maker Select V2, the stock fan location blocks my view of the hot end. It's also a bit under-powered. This design replaces the fan with a 50mm blower and moves it out of the way. It also doesn't require modification to the printer. The fan duct is minimal to allow easy cleaning of the extruder nozzle. The outlet was kept small to increase the velocity of the air. It works well enough that I only run the fan at 50%. The duct is a slip fit on to the blower and is held in place with two drops of glue. The brackets are a slip fit on to the X axis linear bearings. The fan is held to the brackets with two M4 or 8-32 screws. Once screwed together, the brackets cannot come off the linear bearings and it's reasonably rigid. I left some space on the lower bearing fit so that minor misalignment will not bind the X axis. There's an alternate right bracket if you want to reduce some bulk, but it does decrease rigidity because it only has one attachment point to the blower. The blower can be found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078SQS6MX/ I printed this using Black PETG at a .25mm layer height. No supports are required. PLA should work, but be careful threading the screws into the right bracket. Clean out the holes with a drill bit if the screws feel tight.
