ant nest (formicarium)

Hello ant freaks, based on the design of KohtaPi I created an ant nest and Arena (also called formicarium) for smaller ant species like Pheidole, Solenopsis, Myrmica and so on. Sooo, you might ask what the purpose of this project is, simply it is a formicarium for ant species that like heat, because you can easily heat it with heating cable, it makes the whole thing look a bit more bulky, but it is functional and this is its main purpose. Why you want to Keep ants: Ants, in comparason to any other pets are very interesting to watch, make no noise, won´t need much resources and are children friendly, at least as long your child won´t pull out some pipes or hoses. Most ant species are not very intelligent, at least not an individual ant itself, but they have a swarm intelligence that makes it possible for them to solve even more complex tasks like deciding the direction if there is a obstacle in their way. Just find it out yourself ;-) At the moment you will get two files, which treshold the arena and the nest. For assembly you will need â tube with an outer diameter between 12mm and 14mm and two 10Cm by 10Cm acrylic glass sheets. In near future I will also design a stopper for the feeding hole in the arena.
