Tired of getting a 10 hour print and your extruder ruined by a spool getting tangled? even attended prints can get ruined in 30 seconds since you don't always notice the tangle before the filament stops flowing resulting in an air print. The anti tangle system (ATS) is a set of printable parts that put your rep2 into cold pause whenever there is a tangle. see it in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEAy2hf6FU0 print the parts, add a piece of cord (fishing line works well). the ATS works by moving a lever that presses the hardware pause button if a tangle happens. you can then solve the tangle or change filament, unpause the machine, and enjoy a saved print. Update : you can use http://jettyfirmware.yolasite.com/v74-v44.php#pstop the new sailfish to add a p_stop switch and use only the back assembly. however for the rep2 the jetty team hasn't figured out the P-stop yet. so we're waiting for that. Instructions print all the parts, 2 bottom clips and 4 of the pins. assemble the lever mount with the 2 lever arms and the filament guide like in the pics using 2 pins. assemble the button pusher & button pusher clip with a pin remove the filament tube guide and the black wires guide from the back of the replicator, and insert the lever mount in place from below. it should hold fast. load filament thru the lever assembly and insert the tube guide into the top of the filament guide like in the pics. insert the wire holder & guide above the mount. clip on the 2 bottom clips as shown in the pics thread a cord from the lever, thru the wire holder guide, back thru the lever mount, and thru the 2 bottom clips, up the front and tie it to the button pusher. the lever should be in a 90 degree position more or less when the bot is working properly, and the button pusher should rest softly on the front button with the cord almost tight. you can insert a pin into the middle hole in the lever assembly to make sure the lever doesnt drop as a safety measure when you don't want the ATS to work. Operation: when not using the ATS, you can slide the front assembly to the left to get it out of the way, and insert the safety pin. when using, remove the pin, and place the button pusher over the bot button. start your print, and choose the cold pause option (or pause, if you don't have sailfish) if and when a tangle happens, the lever will start moving towards the spool. after about 45 degrees (it takes a few seconds) the cord will pull the button pusher and depress the button. testing: using filament load, manually stop the spoll from turning and test to see if the ATS presses the button to stop the loading. see it in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEAy2hf6FU0 notes: I used plain pins. should work well. there is a stop on the button pusher so it can't depress the button too hard if you worry about the button being damaged. if you install - please send me a note when it saves you from a tangle :)
