Anycubic i3 Mega Custom Hotend Support with Back Connector
thingiverse
After two months of exhaustive research, I have finally completed my custom i3 mod. Every hotend support I studied previously overlooked a crucial aspect: airflow, particularly hotend cooling, with no consideration for air outlet. This oversight prompted me to initiate my project with a focus on rectifying this flaw. Moreover, I aimed to relocate the wiring connector to the back of the X carriage, thereby maintaining an uncluttered and visually appealing setup. The carriage and rear support were printed using PETG, while the hotend fan duct was fabricated from PLA. The blower duct and cover were constructed from ABS. To enhance airflow intake and reduce noise levels, I replaced the standard fan with a Noctua duct. This modification significantly improved air circulation around the hotend. A new belt holder was also designed to keep the belt aligned with both the motor and pulley on either side. This feature ensures optimal belt tension and reduces wear on the system's components. I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions on how to further refine this mod, particularly if there are improvements that can be made or modifications that could enhance its performance.
