Anycubic i3 Mega Filament Intake

This is a filament intake I designed for my Anycuic i3 Mega (or how they call it now: the Anycubic M). Quite often it was quite fiddly to get the filament into the extruder correctly and I recognized, that the filament got worn off, when pulled over the metal part. This filament intake has a M6 thread and when screwed in, aligns the filament quite well with the extruder gear, so that it is much easier to put in the filament. Also the filament does not get worn off so much, because the intake consists of former filament and is not as hard as the metal part.

This intake will also work on other printers, as long as they have a M6 thread at the extruder.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Anycubic

Printer:

All-metal Mega

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0,1

Infill:

20%

Filament:
Generic PLA

Notes:

I used the adaptive layer height feature of Cura for my print. The lower part does not need a low layer height, but the thread comes out better, when printed with a fine resolution.
As the surface on the build plate is quite small, I used a brim to increase bed adhesion.

Post-Printing

Remove the brim

Just remove the brim by tearing it off, using a knife or whatever seems appropriate to you.

Install filament intake

Screw the filament intake into the free thread on your extruder opposite to your bowden tube.

How I Designed This

I used Fusion 360 to design this. Fusion 360 has the advantage that it can actually export the geometry of a thread.

Category: 3D Printer Accessories
