Because I was not really satisfied with the original hot end fan - and because it was dying anyway - I decided to replace it with a Noctua. And while I was waiting for the new fan I designed a whole new housing. The biggest problem with the original I had was the fact that the hot end fan pushed most of the air right on the printed part. That may be okay for most of the prints, but when printing ABS or similar materials it is important that you can control the air flow. That's why I designed this 'closed version' where the air passing the hot end is pushed out only at the front-side. As part-cooler I am still using the original fan, because it's quiet and still does a pretty good job. For mounting the fans I used the original M2,5mm bolts, but for the Noctua you will need four additional M2,5 nuts. If you have none available you could enlarge the holes a bit and use M3 bolts and nuts. The parts of the housing are assembled with 2,9x8mm screws. You can print the left and right part without support, for the middle-part you will most likely need some. I strongly recommend using ABS. I've never actually measured the temperature of the parts during printing, but I'm quite sure it's way too much for PLA or such. I don't know if it is necessary, but as some kind of heat shielding I glued a piece of aluminum foil to the lower side of the middle part. You can't be too cautious, right?
