Anycubic Photon S - Top Cover Repair

The Anycubic Photon S top cover design is flimsy and prone to cracking or breakage near the hinge unlike the previous model. The top cover should never had been allowed to open 180˚ which puts excessive load on the thin plastic frame. My cover failed completely, it literally broke off within three days of receiving the unit, maybe I am a little heavy handed! No point claiming warranty just to have it rejected or have another failure, so a fix was required. The support does several things, fixes the hinge break, stops the cover from opening too far and makes the printer much more stable. There are two different supports which can be printed, one with bolt holes and a glue on version depending on how good or bad your cover condition is. There is a little wiggle room with both supports so they can be lined up correctly to prevent binding with the main case. As you can see I made a mistake drilling the first two holes! If you are bolting the support you will need 7 pcs - 3mm x 6mm long socket head cap screws with nuts. Use a 2.8mm or a 3mm drill bit at a very slow speed. Self tapping screws could be used but not recommended as this could crack the plastic cover completely, do so at your own risk! If you are gluing the support on use something that is specifically for plastic and sandpaper the glue area first. Many of the 'super glues' claim to stick plastic and multiple other things too but have poor adhesion with plastics.
