Kennedy, 1962 Fifty-one years ago, today, humans first landed on the moon. Six hours later, Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the lunar surface on the 21st of July at 02:56:15 UTC, followed by Edwin ‘buzz’ Aldrin. NASA would successfully land five more crewed missions on the moon, the last in 1972. Humans have not left low Earth orbit since.
