Pietro Galli remains a neoclassical sculptor whose life and works are shrouded in mystery. The first recorded mention of him occurred when he enrolled at the Thorvaldsen Museum in 1822, marking the beginning of his artistic journey. That same year, Galli is documented as working closely with renowned Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen to create scaled-down versions of Thorvaldsen's masterpieces. As his career flourished, Galli established himself as a prominent artist by 1842, and he dedicated the majority of his work to the esteemed Torlonia family. Notably, his depiction of Apollo dates back to 1838, demonstrating his artistic prowess even in his early years.
