Apple Watch And iPhone Stand Insert

I purchased a pretty good looking stand/dock for iPhone and Apple watch on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XKPN5KO) for about $10. This 3D printed part is an insert to allow an iPhone lightning cable to mount the phone to be stable in the stand. As stated by the original author of this remix about the stand: "...the phone docking is kept very universal. Therefore you have to plugin/unplug the cable manually for each charging session." It is a two handed process, and the phone flops around and is very loose and not retained in any way. The original author developed this part out of 3mm birch plywood and cut by 40W CO2 Laser. I was inspired by it, and I have used that part to remix it and create a 3D printed version. The insert can be used for iPhone 5/6/6s (lightning connector). The iPhone stands on the connector and can be easily plugged in and removed using one hand and one action. The part is a tight fit, by design, for both the lightning connector and the insert itself into the wood stand. The measurements are tight to ensure it stays in place, so be aware your stand may or may not have the same measurements depending on the manufacturer tolerances. You may need to make adjustments to the part dimensions to fit your stand if it is not consistent. After some use, pulling the phone off may loosen the connector away from the insert, a zip tie at the bottom of the part will retain the cable and may help with keeping the cable in place and allowing the insertion and removal of the phone. NOTE: a future upgrade of this part may be to angle the phone while inserted at a about 75 degree angle since the phone currently sits very straight in the stand. Enjoy. Print Settings Printer Brand: Prusa Printer: Prusa Clone Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.20 Infill: 20% Notes: Based on the measurements of your stand, dimensions may need to be adjusted. The orientation while printing is important so that you will not need supports and so that it will bow a little and provide a tighter fit. I printed it on its side and it bowed a bit and caused a tighter fit into the wood stand. If it is too loose adjust its dimensions for a tighter fit or a bit of glue may keep it in place.
