I wanted to drop the water level in my aquarium as low as the hang on back filter (HOB) would allow but that made for a ton of splashing and bubbles and turbulence so I designed this to handle the drop and let the water gently out the side. It just sits between the plastic rim of the aquarium and the filter. Seems to work ok.
