Not perfect, but it suites my needs. I set out to design a 5x magazine holder that could be mounted to my gun safe door - via small screws into the lining board. I can fit two of these per row onto the door. If I were going to store them loaded, I may have gone for a full wrap around collar around the top - but for empty storage - the spring type retention is good. This design has the advantage of also working with Mini-14 magazines. Some updates to the design for a full captive band rather than the spring effect. I've included both models here... you can decide. Still fits mini14 magazines as well. This thing was made with Tinkercad.
