AR15 Bolt Face Christmas Ornament

AR15 Bolt Face Christmas Ornament

thingiverse

Christmas ornament styled after an AR-15 bolt face. Prints in 2 mirrored halves so no support necessary. I think it looks better with a drop of black paint or some Sharpie black in the firing pin "hole" recess. For no particular reason one half has a hole all the way through and the other has a recess with a thin bottom. That worked out well since it allows excess glue to escape in the middle when I over do it. Assembly: I wash the hair spray off then give the flats a quick scuff sanding with 320 grit to take the shine off, then glue the 2 halves together with super glue. I use stationary clips as gluing clamps, but the watery super glue sets so quick with PLA that clamps aren't needed. If fact, it sets so quick it I lost a couple because it set before I had the halves aligned. Gel super glue would probably give more time to align things. I included .stp files in case, like me, your software has a hard time with .stl dumb-solids. The "master" file doesn't have the things like the hangar ring merged in case you want to fool with the design. I think I'll remove the ring, shrink it in Z a little bit and print one half to glue to my car like a Mercedes logo on the rear :-)
