This was a project back in 2017 and finally got the drive to complete it. The reason for the hold back is because of the overwhelming wiring. This meant to be used with mechanical switches instead of those proper sanwa buttons.

The buttons are soft to be pressed and it is quite comfortable to mash them. No spring needed as it is provided by the mechanical switch's lever.

It was originally meant for retropie but there was issues with retropie and gpio controller input. I highly recommend using recalbox as it will work flawlessly

Both stick and button parts are connected via 2 M8 rods between top and bottom part. The idea of this is to have adjustable width and angle especially for the button part.

Wiring

Make sure you have every wire labeled for these buttons

D-PAD, A, B, X, Y, LB, RB, START, SELECT

And also you know which goes to which. The commons are all connected as single wire.

For my setup, I forked the SELECT button into 2, one for SELECT pin, one for HK (HOTKEY) pin. Without HOTKEY pin plugged, exiting the game with START+SELECT should work fine too.

Image below is the reference for mk arcade joystick, meant for any Raspberry Pi B+ model, 40 pin gpio

Source: https://github.com/DigitalLumberjack/mk_arcade_joystick_rpi/raw/hotkeybtn/wiki/images/mk_joystick_arcade_GPIOsb+-hk.png
