Archaeological Excavation

Ohio Valley Archaeology, Inc. conducted a Phase II excavation of what is very likely a War of 1812 era cabin site in central Ohio. The stone lined well is most likely associated with the early cabin site, while the feature beside the well turned out to be a Late Archaic feature, which would be over 3000 years old. The large rocks appear to have been brought to the site, possibly as foundation supports. If you turn the settings to Matcap and find the right viewing angle, an oval is visible in the V end of the model. Many people (including me) walked through the oval, but it was not noticed until it was spotted in this model. Based on historical aerial photographs, the oval is most likely a 20th century feature. The resolution of this model was decimated to be viewed on mobile devices.
