Around-Corner Child Lock

Around-Corner Child Lock

thingiverse

This is a child lock designed to be attached using 3M Command strips to the outside of a cupboard. It can be printed in one piece, with integrated hinges. Note photos are an earlier model, without the curved cam arm. The lock has a body designed to be attached to the outside of the cupboard, and two hinged arms. The barrier arm reaches around to obstruct the door opening. On the outside of this is the cam arm, which when closed locks the barrier arm in place. * This is an experimental design, and 3d printing is not a consistent manufacturing process. Do not rely on this without your own testing. * This is intended to protect cupboards it would be annoying for a child to easily access, not dangerous ones, and is not a replacement for supervision. A child hanging off the door may still pop it open... * Place this on the side of the door near the handle, *not* on the hinge side of the door. Keep it close to the handle to reduce leverage. * Place this high enough to be outside of your child's reach. The locking mechanism prevents the door being opened by pulling _elsewhere_. * For centre-opening cupboards, this design is not suitable. Use a different child lock (e.g. through the handles). EDIT: Increased hinge tolerances and strengthened cam arm a bit - had a few breakages.
