Articulating Arm Pop Socket Kit

Articulating Arm Pop Socket Kit

This is a kit for making an articulating arm on which to ultimately mount a pop-socket holder for a mobile phone. The parts, scale sizes, and printing recommendations are in a spreadsheet within the files. Though I'm showing a mount on my desk in the pictures, I learned at the last minute that the desk vice is a no-derivatives part, so I cannot just give it to you. (Thought it strange the vice itself is a remix of something else... go figure.) In any case, I used standard 1/4" x 20 screws. The insets for the screw heads and nuts are intentionally too small so they have to be melted in. I use a hot gun to heat up the screw and pliers to insert it. For the nut, I use a soldering iron. I modified the perfectly designed slide in holder of this thing by elle2005: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2827208 There are two versions, one with ribs left and one with ribs right, just in case things are backwards from what you might think at the end. There are two mounts (other than the aforementioned vise). One is for snapping into a pop socket clip. I give a lot of credit to TJT2007's design (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2560011) of a pop socket clip for helping with proper scale on these. When I got it into my car, however, it was too top-heavy for the way I wanted it, and it snapped my actual pop-socket clip, so I designed a large flat mount. I used 1/2" foam-type double stick tape on that mount to stick it to my car. It works wonderfully. This is a project still in the making. I plan to add a mount for pegboard, and, of course, design a different vise. Finally, I apologize for all the colors. This is what happens when you have a bunch of partially to mostly used filament spools.
