Articulating Cube Chain Elements for Snake Puzzle or Fixture

Articulating Cube Chain Elements for Snake Puzzle or Fixture

thingiverse

This design was made with the intention to create a simple set of elements that could be used to duplicate a fun wooden cube chain puzzle. So for I have only printed this in its original size (2cm edge length) and from PLA. PLA is strong but can be fragile. Some type of PLA will even brake when snapping two elements together. Altogether the current version is for its tiny feature size amazingly strong and resilient. If the elements are just snapped together once (turning them while pushing them together) and not tried to take apart again they last quite well. Possibly printing scaled up versions or using more flexible plastics such as PETG, TPU, ABS or Nylon will make this more realistic in its application. Please comment if you try it and share your results. Also mix it up the FreeCAD source is included! This was one my first designs I ever did in FreeCAD and I had difficulties to even eliminate optional holes without the design becoming unstable. I have not played with this in month, but here it is - have fun!
