Ash cleaner

Ash cleaner

I printed this small shovel to clean the ash from my stove after I burn wood in it. I had a few (iron) utensils already so I designed this one to match their design which is black and with a 10mm size handle. Of course you may want to adjust the design so I included the f3d (Fusion360) file. The shovel is not particularly strong. The 10mm thickness of the handle and only 3-4mm thickness of the shovel does not make it very strong. But the look and feel of the design was more important in this case as the functionality. This is in a prominent place in our living room and a real eye catcher so I did not want a clunky design. And the design is strong enough to do the ash cleaning job. Because it is such an eye catcher, I imprinted an image of a phoenix into it. It is imprinted in the bottom layer of the shovel. The 3D mesh was too small/fine to print on top of the shovel. I tried it and much of the detail got lost. The best detail is achieved when you let the printer draw the image on the print plate and fill the full area around it. To give you a feel of how this would look when printed on your printer with your slicer, I have added a small demo piece of the phoenix head. This should give you a good impression of the final result. The photographs of my phoenix are of an earlier design. In this earlier version I cut out the phoenix image from the bottom of the shovel but as you can see, this leads to a poor result. I have also included an STL without a phoenix image as not everybody may like it as much as I do.
