ASTM C 939 Grout Flow Cone

ASTM C 939 Grout Flow Cone

I made this test cone so I could measure the consistency of my grout pours per ASTM C-939 without having to buy the expensive fancy test cone since I only do this once or twice a year. I included the build specs I took from one of the many websites that describe the test: http://www.c-s-h.ir/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/C-939.pdf I posted the entire unit as I designed it, and also a version split into two halves to better fit on my printer, as it was a bit tall (Prusa MK2). Should glue fine with just about any ABS glue. I might glue some scrap pieces of whatever to the sides of the support planes if I feel paranoid about the glue joints (I did, worked great). I figure I will wash it promptly after using it so that even if the texture is coarse I will still have a chance to get it reasonably clean to reuse. Hope this helps someone else who is trying to do things the right way without getting gouged for it. Please feel free to let me know if I mis-read the specs, but I'm pretty sure I nailed it... Edit- First time calibrating it with water it was a bit porous, so I sloshed around a bit of latex paint in it and poured it out, wiped it down and let it dry, was watertight thereafter. When I next timed it I got 9.5 seconds for 175ml of water to exit the bottom, which was way outside the 8 +/- 0.2 seconds. I realized the hole was tight, so I ran a sharp 1/2" drill bit through the neck and the next 3 times were 8.22, 8.26 and 7.83, so I am calling it good :)) You can buy one that performs as well for $600 if you really want, personally I'll keep the dough.
