This mount enables you to attach each smartphone to a telescope. It does not matter if the eyepiece is 1.25 inch or 2 inch, the mount can handle all diameters up to approx 2.1 inch. The two pictures of the Moon were taken using this mount, mounted on a Newton/Dobson 8 inch 1200mm. The 2 inch eyepiece is 30mm, while the 1.25 inch eyepiece is 15mm. The quality is quite surprising. Keep in mind, I was too lazy to put the Newton to fresh and cold air, so the pictures were taken through the closed window with all the downsides involved. The mount itself has 5 thread holes. It makes sense to use a M8 tap and die and rework the threads. Same goes for the bolts. There are two type of bolts, one with thread and another one without. At least on my Prusa I was able to print the threaded version and would have not needed to rework the threads. However, it will work much better using the tap and die tools and refinish the M8 threads, of course. No matter what, you will need 5 of these bolts. The plate itself is prepared to secure your smartphone using hair ties or something similar. If you own an old smartphone case, just glue it on the plate if you like. Make sure, you can move your smartphone up and down a little, needed for adjustment. How does it work? See the pictures, please. It is kind of similar to Celestron NexYZ and similar solutions. If I find some time I will do some more work on the smartphone part. But for now, hair ties work well. How to print: mount and plate were printed using 20% cubic infill, 3 outer shells. The bolts work best printed horizontal, using a brim and support from the bed. I printed them using 5 shells. All prints were done in 0.2 using standard PLA. Possible improvements: use real metal bolts, and press some of these special nuts into the holes of the mount. But then take care not to scratch your eyepieces too much. Would love to receive feedback on this.
