Atari 2600 Cartridge Housing

thingiverse

This is a housing design for an Atari 2600/VCS cartridge. It will hold a standard Atari PCB or suitable replacement (like my homebrew PCB design: www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/pixels-past/) This was co-designed back in 2002 with the friendly fellows from www.toolinc.com, but never saw the light of day (until now!) See a time-lapse video of the Makerbotting and assembly in action at http://youtu.be/Ngb69HvGE7g Instructions Print all three pieces, insert PCB, press fit together, secure with a single screw, plug into Atari, GAME! Make sure your platform is level. The top and bottom housings take up most of the space on the Thing-o-Matic build platform and if there is uneven heating, the housing will warp and won't fit into the Atari very well (like the one I made). The snaps along the housing edges are pretty brittle and the label area comes out a bit funky as it's recessed a bit. I had the best results at 100% infill and 1 shell. Looks especially swell in any color other than the typical Atari cartridge color of black.
