I have uploaded this idea due to the fact without any equipment or tools so i cannot make any sort of prototype, I would like to have others input and thoughts in the design. The idea came from work we have a machine that takes a screw in sleeve to attach a nylon cylinder to. When you pull the handle the sleeve pushes out too a slightly bigger to take the diameter of the nylon cylinder. When it shuts the sleeve is pulled back into a collar, which then it compresses the sleeve due to the collar only making its way the the very edge of the inner sleeve to grip the nylon cylinder What is needed to just to finish the 3d design, is that i'm struggling to make a spring that will fit in between the collar and the inner tool sleeve, then a lid to stop the spring from coming out under compression. The hole i made was to fit a 5 mm mill bit so i made the hole 6mm and made the slits 1 mm, I also tried to calculate the radius for the collar and how far down it would go to close the gap. the shaft is 5 mm I diameter i don't know much about spindles on the machine as i'm not at the stage of building one yet but the added idea was if the spindle went in clockwise direction then the inner collaiter, spring and collar would be made from titanium and the shaft would be made from a magnetic material so i can put a electromagnet on the shaft, the shaft would have a anti clockwise thread on to screw the rest of the assembly, The tool bits would be in a home position on the machine and referenced as how many tool heads the machine can handle(uncertain on the programming side), but the tool bit will be in a cup standing vertical, the diameter of the cup will match the the collar diameter but not the inner coliater allowing it to drop or pick up the tool bit. the electric magnet will operate at the same time when it goes to drop it will turn off, only problem i can see in using a electromagnet is resident of the magnetism would it drop the tool, other option is making the shaft hollow enough to create a vacuum, but hey its up too you guys to take it further i will take it further myself even with your help when it comes time to build my cnc mill
