<p>This is a tool that fits on the bull gear of a Craftsman/Atlas lathe to assist with removal of the chuck. I measured and modeled this to fit my Craftsman/Atlas 12" lathe. It may fit other Atlas lathes.</p> <p>I've included the stl file of what I printed. I printed with 15% infill, and it worked fine for me because my chuck wasn't super stuck. I'd recommend more infill if you have a seized chuck.</p> <p><strong>EDIT:</strong> The Youtube channel the_eddies printed the original design, but his chuck was super tight and it showed some design flaws in my original design. See video (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijkSDJEicZA">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijkSDJEicZA</a>) I've edited my design and posted v2, but have not printed or tested it.</p> <h3>V2 changes</h3> <ul> <li>added engagement for more teeth as this will wrap around the bull gear a bit more and may prevent the tool from trying to pull off the bull gear if you have a really tight chuck.</li> <li>increased the length of the 'stop' to provide more rigidity to the top of the tool.</li> <li>corrected angle of the bottom of the 'stop' so it won't try to ramp off the headstock casting.</li> </ul> Category: Machine Tools
