Vex has a 1/2" hex shaft and I needed to connect it to aluminum rail with 1/4" screws in such a way that I could put a potentiometer on the end of the hex shaft to find the position. Because the force was compression the plastic part seems ok. This may be a very specific application but here is the part anyway.
