Back Story: My Gloomhaven group is always thrilled whenever they show up for a session and I have some newly printed thing to add (monsters, scenery, etc.) so I'm always looking to either add to the general ambience, streamline or clean up the play area, or generally just make things easier for everyone. I know there are a lot of modifier deck holders out there (including an amazing one made out of wood), but I had specific "needs" for mine, so I decided to make my own. Design notes: I made this with a few things in mind... -First an foremost, some rounds take longer than others, or people or generally just get distracted... So, by the time their next turn comes around they sometimes forget they're muddled, strengthened, have regenerate, etc. I wanted to solve that issue by creating a spot for conditions directly on the holder itself. That way, even if you forget, you're immediately reminded when you go to flip a card. Sometimes all monsters have a specific condition as well, or simply one or more monsters do, so it acts as a reminder to check for that as well. - I sleeve all of my active/shuffled cards, so this was designed with sleeved cards in mind. -The holders we had before were too short, and held the cards vertical, which meant the last card was revealed to everyone else, especially as the deck ran low and they cards would fall forward. Not a big deal, but it takes away a bit of the mystery when you know that your party members Null/x2/Bless/etc. is on the bottom of their deck. -I like to customize things and add unnecessary extras to give things a little "pizzazz", hence the engraved and raised lettering :). -Bricks, ruins, etc, are sort of a theme for our play area, so I made a brick/castle/ruins/wall version as well. Print: I printed these flat on the build plate, without supports. Some I hollowed, others I left solid, both ways printed perfectly. I placed a small 1.5mm hole on the side, right at the base of the internal card slot, to avoid creating a suction cup. I printed six, one for each character, one for the Ally deck, and one for the monster deck. Misc Notes: - I wanted to personalize each holder for the person using it, so I asked them to each come up with a quote and then I added it to the front. I may post one or two of those as well, but I think it's easy enough for people to simply create their own text and add it within their slicing program. - We plan to paint ours with a nice white/blue ice effect and paint the monster deck to look like a brick tower :). - I will include the plain version (smooth sides), as well as the brick version. I'll also include plain versions without "Frosthaven" on the front, in case anyone wants that. - The "Monster deck" has brick sides, and includes four tiny skulls, as well as the text "Embrace your rage!" - The brick holder is slightly wider than the others, both internally (wider card slot) and externally.
