Audio Technica Sound Burger Headshell

The Audio Technica Sound Burger (AT-727) also known as the Mister Disc (AT-770) in some markets has a proprietary headshell that only accepts a single-screw mount cartridge. I wanted to upgrade the stylus to a Nagaoka MP-110 so that involved designing a new offset headshell. The MP-110 is on the taller side at 18mm but this should work with other cartridges in the same range like the Ortofon 2M series. The shaft length is also adjustable if your cartridge is longer. I've also included a version that should work with 14mm headshells which are more common in the Audio Technica/Rega world but I have no way to test the fit. No disassembly is required, just be very careful with the wires because they are extremely thin and brittle. You'll also need to add a few grams to the tonearm's counterweight because it's not adjustable and the new headshell plus the Nagaoka will give you a tracking force around 3.75 grams which is too heavy. Stick-on weights for golf clubs or pinewood derby cars should work great. I used the lever and headshell design from gmo78's excellent Micro Seiki DQX-500 headshell and built around that. If you use the 3mf be sure to set the second object to a cutting mesh. If you need to recreate the screw hole it's just a 2x5mm rectangle positioned at the center of the shaft at z1.8mm Also recommend printing the AT727 Tonearm Rest by epsilon748 at 18mm z height and sticking some foam on the top of the case to make sure the tonearm stays secure without colliding with the taller headshell when closed. Align using a Rega Stevenson arc protractor or something similar after checking with the original stylus to make sure it lines up. Works and sounds great!
