The Postmaster-General's Department (PMG) was established by the Australian federal government in 1901 to provide postal and telegraphic services throughout Australia. In 1975, the PMG gave way to two new legal entities: Telecom Australia (now Telstra) and Australia Post. While the British red telephone box would be familiar to many, by the 1950s and 1960s the design of Australian telephone boxes had developed their own distinctive style, with both peaked and flat roofs. This model is based on a typical timber public telephone box found around Brisbane, Queensland. The boxes were often located outside post offices, shops or on residential street corners. It was not uncommon to find them installed in pairs. Designed in Tinkercad. The door clips in place, and can also be glued in the open position if desired.
