L’auto-neige Bombardier model B12 (12 passengers) represents the first commercial success for Joseph Armand Bombardier and marks the beginning of a grand industrial adventure for him and for the province of Québec Canada. The B12 was on the market until the mid-1960s, when production ceased following provincial highway legislation making snow removal from public roads mandatory. I have good memories of these vehicles, used among others by Shawinigan Water and Power and then by the new provincial firm Hydro-Québec. Today it has become an icon in the province. there are still a few hundred, restored and maintained by private owners who annually organize festive meetings and other winter activities where they celebrate the history of this vehicle that has marked the development of Quebec. Built with the very specific purpose of making travel possible during the harsh Quebec winters, it is a perfect example of aesthetics guided by function. This 3D model is not an exact representation, it is based on photos gleaned from the web, I "hacked" the mechanics because I didn’t have acces to engineering or technical drawings.
