Automatic Cat Feeder Restraint

The cat was very unhelpful in making this design. He had a good deal going back when he figured out how to knock over his automatic feeder to get to the goods inside and he has been protesting this new development.

We got a PETLIBRO 4L automatic feeder a while back, which works well but as noted above, is susceptible to brute force attack. This restraint keeps the feeder in place and keeps el gato from opening the lid or moving the machine around.

The design is in four parts: a ‘top hat' - the cross piece which sit atop the feeder, the ‘wall bracket’ - which mounts to a wall corner, a ‘top hat connector’ which links the two, and two printed screws. The top hat and connector could be joined with CA glue, I used some plastic screws that I had lying around (McMaster 95893A356). The wall bracket piece is designed to attach to a wall corner for maximum stability, I used some VHB tape to attach it - make sure to clean the PLA and the wall first. Mount the wall bracket to the wall at whatever height you need for your feeder.

The mechanism is simple: Wall bracket mounted to the wall corner, the top hat and connector slides in from the top, and the screws hold it in place.

I've uploaded the Fusion model so folks can modify it to accommodate other feeders, just go into the ‘tophatfeeder’ sketch to modify the dimensions of the construction lines for your setup, angle to the wall is changeable as well. The custom parameters are to dial in the clearances for other 3D printer setups, the stock settings work well on my Mk3s.

The .3mf files I've uploaded are for the PETLIBRO 4L that I have, printed using the following settings:

.4 MM nozzle

Faux-marble white PLA filament

30% infill and .3mm layer height detail settings on the wall bracket and screws, 15% and .4mm layer height draft on other parts

Normal PLA temps and other settings in PrusaSlicer.
