* Aventon Level.2 comes with this odd-shaped seat tube that prevents easy mounting of an FD -- it arrives as a 1x stock drivetrain * took some measurements, found a good way to solidly mount * I first tried an [E-type FD](https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-m6000/FD-M6020-E.html) style, which would be the most solid * however, it didn't work out because even at the lowest possible mounting point (limited by welded junction at the seat tube to down tube joint), the FD would not reach any reasonably sized chainrings * instead, I changed the design to accommodate braze on type FDs, which are not as rigidly mountable, but may be sufficient -- they're also more plentiful * I did not include up/down adjustability -- that is taken care of with use of the clamp has a hole; this way the whole assembly is more rigid under shifting forces * clamp flexes around the seat tube & secures with an M5 x ~12 mm socket head cap screw + M5 hex nut 2023-09-02 I have not yet tested any of these designs with an FD shifting because I don't yet have a 2x or 3x crankset for this bike
