Model on left in photo was made by my dad while he was in the Philippines during WWII. Many service men made "trench art" during their free time. It is made entirely of bullets and shell casings with the base made of a 105mm shell case.

I needed some practice with Fusion360 so made a model of a model. You will need some basic model tools as in the photo and a bit of skill to put it together but is a rather straight forward assembly.

I put holes in several places to use a piece of 1.75 filament for alignment and assembly. I did needed to clean the holes out using a #50/.07" drill a 5/64 drill would more than likely work also.

The four motors have holes that line up with holes in the wing, I used a short piece of filament with a drop of super glue on it to attach the motors then cut the filament off flush. Be sure the holes are on the bottom of the wing. I did the same with the top cab on the fuselage, don't do as I did and turn the hole down. The back hole is used for mounting to the base, I use a short piece of .100" aluminum welding rod I had for that. The motors and fuselage are printed in two pieces so they can be printed on the flat part on end I used a brim for printing because the are a bit small. The fuselage has a recess on the top where the rudder goes, mine was a press fit with a bit of cleanup as was the tail wing I did not use glue on them. The four motors are printed in two pieces and have holes for assembly.

Be sure to look up the P-38 model I posted

You will need to print as follows:

1ea.-105mm base

1ea.-50cal base upright

1ea. main fuselage nose

1ea. main fuselage rear

1ea. top cab

1ea. main wing

1ea. tail wing

1ea. rudder

4ea. motor forward

4ea. motor rear

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

CR-10S

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.2

Infill:

15

Filament: Copper PLA Filament CC3D PLA Copper

Category: Vehicles
