Babyhawk Custom Frame

Babyhawk Custom Frame

thingiverse

This is a full custom frame for the original babyhawk. It supports a larger range of motors, but is still a 2.3" prop size. You should be able to just move your electronics over. If you do get larger motors, the ESCs are tight, but do fit. You just need to do the under/over method for the wires. I passed the wires thorugh heat shrink under the ESC, then back through the shrink over the ESC and soldered them to the motor pads coming from the back of the ESC. When shrunk up and ziptied to the arms it works great. You do loose some heat dissipation, so if you're running a setup that pushes the limits of the 6A stock ESCs, you might have some trouble. Since this is a 20x20 stack though, you can always switch to a 12A 4-in-1 with a 20x20 mount, and it should work fine. The 3D printed parts here have been designed for robustness rather than weight savings etc, but the rest of the frame being carbon and minimalist still keeps the combined weight low. The carbon plate also has mount holes for the stock Babyhawk camera mount, so if you don't want to do the prints and add that weight you can go that route. The main plate is designed for 2mm 0/90 layup carbon fiber. The DXF file for the carbon plate is included, so if you have a CNC, or access to a cutting service, you easily get one made. If you are cutting yourself, make sure you align the arms with the layup properly (aligned with the weave on the surface layers). If you're interested I can probably cut one and mail it as well, but no guarantee on turnaround time, as I may or may not have the carbon handy or the time to cut right away.
