Bacchus

Bacchus

myminifactory

This bust depicts the Wine God Bacchus, as noted by the text on its socle and the characteristic wine and ivy leaves adorning his head. With the hair decorations, the bust holds strong similarities to the famous bust of Antinous as Bacchus from the Capitoline Museums and British Museum. With this said, nothing is written about this intriguing bust which posesses incredibly androgynous features, long hair trailing down the left side of the bust's shoulder and a fur pelt along the right. As with the other busts at Ekaterininsky Park, the reverse is signed with a casting signature by an E. Gastecloux.
