Bahtinov Mask

Bahtinov Mask

Focusing aid for Astrophotography. I designed it to go directly over the lens hood, (which would act also as a dew shield for the astronomy aspect of it. It fits snugly over the lens hood when extended, and although snug, is not too tight. It works well in the field testing, and provides good tool for focusing. (The picture is of the Atlas comet that recently broke up - which was taken on Feb 22nd. Total exposure time of 25 minutes). Oh, the comet is in the upper left quadrant of the picture. I printed it with a 3 mm nozzle, but it should still print well with a 4 mm as well. Generated the Bahtinov mask code from the Generator at astrojargon.net/MaskGen.aspx while adding my own tweaks to it. I recreated the mask profile in Vectorworks CAD software fitting it onto a cover that would fit tightly enough that it wouldn't fall off the lens and directly exported from there to stl.
