Bahtinov-Maske / Bahtinov Mask for 16″ Ritchey-Chrétien-Cassegrain-Teleskop ---- German Version below ---- The Bahtinov mask (also called Bakhtinov mask, after its inventor Pavel Ivanovich Bakhtinov) is a focusing aid for amateur telescopes, similar to the Scheiner aperture. The Bakhtinov Mask is needed for astrophotography, where highest accuracy in focus adjustment is required. The Bakhtinov Mask is placed in front of the front optical element and creates a radial pattern in the observer's field of view. The more precisely the ideal focus point is set, the more centrally the longest of the beams can be seen. The point of focus is reached when the image is completely symmetrical. Due to the large number of slit-shaped apertures, a relatively large amount of light reaches the observer; the Scheiner aperture, on the other hand, is more suitable for bright stars due to its low light intensity. Special thanks to Mahdi Abokhalaf for the exact calculation of the mask. ---- German Version ---- Die Bahtinov-Maske (auch Bachtinow-Maske, nach ihrem Erfinder Pawel Iwanowitsch Bachtinow) ist eine Scharfstell-Hilfe für Amateurteleskope, ähnlich der Scheinerblende. Die Bachtinow-Maske wird für die Astrofotografie benötigt, da es hier auf höchste Genauigkeit bei der Einstellung des Fokus ankommt. Die Bachtinow-Maske wird vor das vorderste optische Element gelegt und erzeugt ein strahlenförmiges Muster im Blickfeld des Betrachters. Je genauer der ideale Schärfepunkt eingestellt ist, desto mittiger ist der längste der Strahlen zu sehen. Bei völliger Symmetrie des Abbildes ist der Schärfepunkt erreicht. Durch die hohe Anzahl der schlitzförmigen Öffnungen gelangt relativ viel Licht zum Beobachter; die Scheinerblende ist durch ihre geringe Lichtstärke hingegen eher an hellen Sternen verwendbar.
