Bambu Lab X1 Gridfinity Base

I have been organizing my messy workstation and setup the Gridfinity system by Zach. Liked Lea Robinson's and aonomus's designs, so I hash the 2 ideas together. This is the Bambu Lab Gridfinity Base with a slot for led lighting and a mini switch that can be plugged into the AMS for power.

The base is designed in 2 parts to fit the build plate. I use a woodworking joint with a little twist. The joints I design are diamond-shaped. It prevents vertical/lateral movements and is easier to support during print.

The X1 produces rounded bulging at sharp corners when printing at their fast stock speed settings. So I use this to my advantage and make the joints friction fit, meaning u have to use a rubber mallet to slowly tap the 2 parts together, and a small piece of filament to lock them in place.

For best results, this print requires you to use the support, especially the Support W filament. I have prepared the 3mf file with support filament. If you are not using Support W filament, please set the Top Z distance to 0.2mm. Also please edit the setting to suit your filaments and printing environment.

The led light is mainly to provide better lighting when servicing and maintaining the printer. While you can still use it for your timelapse, it is not a flood light that brightens the whole enclosure.

Items you need

A spool of 24V led COB light

15x20mm mini switch

Wires and Micro-Fit 3.0 3.0mm Pitch Connector Double (2x3 pins)

6x2mm magnets (optional)

Rubber Mallet

and patience.

You can also wire it separately to a 5V or 12V power supply, though I would not recommend 5V as the current drawn will cause the led to be hot and not too good for PLA prints.

Will update this post with more pictures once my order of led light and connectors arrives.

Please share your make images here and on the Bambu Lab Official User group. Thank you all and that's all folks.

Resource

ZachFreedman the man that made it happen: https://thangs.com/designer/ZackFreedman

Where u can find Gridfinity stuff: https://gridfinity.xyz

Open Source

In the spirit of open source, I have also shared the step file and have removed the chamfer so it is easier to remix.

If you like my designs and want to contribute to my coffee addiction, a donation of $2 to Ko-fi or paypal.me will be greatly appreciated.

Caveat

As with all my designs, it may and may not work for you.
