Barefoot minimalist running sock sole

Hi barefoot and minimalist running fans ! I made this to fill the gap between real barefoot running (which is still to cold and stingy for me) and commercial barefoot shoes (vibrams etc) which have a waaaaay to thick and stiff sole. I was inspired by the DIY spray on rubber socks ht tps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRCXy_UHPVc which i loved and used for quiet a year of running. Now they are worn off and i have 3D printer so i made an easier way to produce them (with much less smell and effort and cost). The sock only protects your forefoot which is all you need as barefoot runner so it is possible to make some on a smaller printers ;) A first 6k running test through winter cold mud and stones and i was impressed how nice they worked and it looks they are quiet stable. I think they will hold some 100k's :). [Note: the hole which you see on the picture was actually printed - it was a little annoying so i fixed it in the uploaded version] Print the sole with any elastic filament. I used 3dk.berlin's Willowflex. The carrier frame is made for an Anet A8 220mm build plate to be clamped on (write me of you have other dimensions). You need to load the file into Fusion 360 and adjust and experiement with the parameters (in the fist version i uploaded many .stl for different tolerance sizes but that did not make sense because it also need to be set to your foot size - without just scaling everything) Video: https://imgur.com/gallery/mLIFmrm Instruction: --------------------- * First print out the toleranceTests and find the one that can snap into your sock and hold the fabric in place. * Print the carrier frame for that tolerance. Don't print it upside down but in the actual direction in which it is later used. It needs more support but ensures that a sloped bed does'nt double add up to precision loss. When finished, measure and remember its exact position on the build plate for the sole print. * Print the core * Hold the sock fabric under its correct tension by putting the core into the sock, wear the sock on your foot and snap it into the carrier frame (which lies on the floor upside down). Before snapping in, you need to make some correction pull of the sock-downside towards the toes or the print will cover too less of your toes. * Slice the sole including these little anchor squares (they ensure that the sole gets into the right coordinates) and make the printer pause before the sole layer (put an M25 into the gcode before that or even delete the previous layers and let it start there) - so that you have a chance to put the carrier onto the print bed without the print head beeing in the way. Have some nice kilometers ! OC'd by u/Cowderwelz
