Positioned west of How Tallon ridge, on Barningham Moor, County Durham. Located in a dense cluster of carvings west of the settlement, this stone was first discovered by Paul Brown and is referenced 59 in the 1998 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale. NADRAP / ERA reference the stone ‘Barningham Moor 117’. In their 2008 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art in the Northern Dales’, Paul and Barbara Brown describe: “Rectangular slab 74 x 51x 6 cm. Cups and cup and ring and linking grooves” Its position within the cluster is intriguing, with only a matter of metres between several other carved boulders, a propped carved boulder and a hollow way.
