Bascinet -14th century military helmet 3D print model The bascinet was a Medieval European open-faced military helmet with a visor covering the entire face. It is the visor which gives the Houndskull Bascinet helmet its name as this resembles the face of a dog with a protruding muzzle in order to better protect the face from blows and to grant greater ventilation. This model is a wearable helmet. The helmet is quite big and is meant to be post-processed. Files contain pieces of the helmet ready to be 3D printed and complete helmet files, that are not cut into smaller pieces. SCALE At 100% scale the helmets inside dimension are: Width approx. 243 mm (9.5 inches) Length approx. 287 mm (11.2 inches) Height approx. 366 mm (14.4 inches) You can scale the model according to your head measurements. It is good to make it bigger and then add cushioning to the inside for a snug and comfortable fit. PRINTER SETTINGS As the helmet is quite big, it is meant to be post-processed. We recommend a layer height of 0.2 to 0.3 mm on FDM printers. All parts are aligned to the printing platform for easy manipulation. Most of the parts need minimal or no use of printing supports to save printing time and filament. For reliable printing, we also recommend setting a brim to the helmets shell parts, because of their height and low thickness. It will ensure, that the parts will not come off the printing platform during the printing process. Printing settings will vary greatly depending on your specific printer.
